Training and Experience:

Christine C. Kieffer, Ph.D., ABPP is a licensed clinical psychologist and is  board certified in Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychoanalysis from the American Psychoanalytic Association and board certified in Group Psychotherapy from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She is a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Assocation. Dr. Kieffer is in private practice in downtown Chicago and the northern suburbs (Winnetka)

Dr. Kieffer serves on the faculty of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis and Rush University Medical Center where she teaches residents, postdoctoral students and returning professionals who are developing their skills in individual, group, couple/marital and family psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. She has a dual specialization in both Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. Dr. Kieffer is the author of numerous papers in refereed journals as well as the co-editor of 3 books in her field. She often gives lectures and workshops to professionals nationally and internationally and also gives lectures to lay audiences.

Personal Statement about approach to treatment:

I believe that psychotherapy is a collaborative process that is tailored to fit the patient's needs. The process of change and development occurs optimally in the context of an empathic therapeutic alliance. My areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, identity confusion and problems of unfulfilled development. I believe that effective treatment involves a process in which doctor and patient work together both to understand current problematic patterns and to facilitate new ways of being and relating.
