Some say we're attempting the impossible - marketing psychodynamic and psychoanalytic treatment.
Perhaps foolishly, we think it can be done.
That is, if we can convince psychoanalytic clinicians to take advantage of this rare opportunity to combine our resources towards a greater common goal - letting lots of people know about the valuable treatment that we all aim to offer.
Good Therapists is a private, grass roots venture. As co-founders, we bring solid, complementary skills to this effort and we're learning from experience. We're less encumbered by the politics that divide our professional associations and as such, we're freer to make business decisions that work.
This is an effort driven by conviction and passion more than profit. We hope you'll give us a chance and choose to support our venture. We'll try our best to make it worth your while.
History of Good Therapists
Our directory launched in the San Francisco Bay Area in the fall of 2010 and began offering listings outside of San Francisco in the fall of 2011. These initial listings were only for psychoanalysts.
In May, 2013 we re-launched our directory with a new site design and messaging. As well, we expanded our listings to include experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapists in addition to psychoanalysts.
Renée Spencer, PhD, MFT, Co-Founder
Renée is a candidate at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and has an abiding interest in the Internet as a tool for psychoanalytic outreach. She's been successfully marketing her practice online since 2002. Her educational background includes a PhD in biomedical research from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Mark Spencer, MBA, Co-Founder
Mark holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and is the owner of Day Street Productions, a boutique multimedia company. He brings a mix of skills in business, technology, design and marketing to the directory.
Our Team
