About My Practice

I will work intensively to help bring you a sense of relief and contentment in your life. The brief and longer term psychotherapies I practice are intended to result in real, wide reaching and long lasting life changes. These changes are often associated with an increased sense of satisfaction, contentment and inner peace.

Individuals
My special areas of focus include work with relationship and intimacy issues, work concerns, identity and developmental issues, and midlife and aging.  I will help you identify and use your strengths to address the challenges you may be facing and to reach your goals  In addition to addressing immediate problems, I work with you to foster positive growth and greater personal fulfillment in your life.

Couples

I help both heterosexual and same sex couples address difficulties with communication, intimacy, commitment and sexuality, as well as conflict, jealousy, infidelity and disappointment.  I help you develop a stronger and more intimate process for constructively solving problems and taking more pleasure in each other.

Children and Adolescents

I also work with children, adolescents and their families to help them with problems at school, at home and with their peers.  Common difficulties that I work with are disruptive behaviors in the classroom or at home, social isolation and bullying, and challenges associated with disrupted families, blended families, and alternative family structures.  Often young children choose to express themselves through play instead of language.  I utilize play therapy to help them identify their concerns and worries and work collaboratively with parents and family so that they can more effectively support their child.

Location

My office is located in North Oakland across the street from the Rockridge BART station in the Market Hall complex.
